Means Giving Back
“It’s an honor to be able to help our community. Food is nourishing and I really appreciate the opportunity to give back.”
~ Drew
How Your Gift Helps
For many households, especially those with limited resources, the past four years have been remarkably challenging. Drew is one of the many people who has turned to community food resources for help. And he’s one of the many people lending a hand to lift up his neighbors.
Drew always wanted to cook. He enrolled in a culinary program and got a job as a chef. Soon after, the pandemic hit and Drew lost his job. Without a steady income, taking care of his kids was a challenge. One day, he came across a meal program at a local church. Knowing he could get a meal “took some of the stress off.”
But Drew didn’t just want to take food home. He knew he could use his skills to help. So, he started volunteering at the church to cook meals. “It’s an honor to be able to help out our community,” says Drew. “Food is nourishing and I really appreciate the opportunity to give back.”
Today, let’s recognize the generosity in the world; community members lifting each other up and supporting causes they believe in. People like Drew, and people like you. You can help make sure neighbors have enough to eat today, while we work toward ending hunger in Vermont for good.
Dec. 3 is GivingTuesday, a global day of generosity. This GivingTuesday, you can help ensure that neighbors experiencing hunger have enough nourishing food this holiday season, while we actively explore ways to support ending hunger for good.
